Delegates at the 18th International Road Transport Conference in Odessa unanimously adopted a resolution calling on the governments of the region to join the e-CMR and to start using the digital capabilities of TIRs.
The resolution highlights the changes in the transport and logistics sectors and focuses on digitization, which is essential for countries willing to develop their markets and exploit new intermodal transport corridors.
Accepted by industry leaders gathered last week in Odessa, the focus is on digital tools already available to improve transport operations and make international trade more efficient. At the opening of the conference, IRU Secretary-General Umberto de Pretto said:
“The Odessa resolution is a significant indicator on the future of transport. This region has always been at the forefront of innovation, and in particular, we welcome Ukraine’s enthusiasm to participate in the upcoming digital transport operation along an intermodal corridor that will lead to further progress “.
The conference is an increasingly powerful platform for delivering high-level messages on sustainable mobility and forcing the way forward for road transport. The program covered key issues, including inter-modal transport links between Europe and Asia, harmonization of transport policies, digitization of cross-border transport operations and investment in training.
Organized jointly by the IRU and the International Road Transport Association of Ukraine (AsMAP UA), the event hosted over 330 industry leaders and decision-makers in 13 countries.
