AMAZON ENTER ON SHIPPING MARKET

To become a complete cycle logistics company and to abandon the intermediaries, Amazon buys trucks and hires planes. A new stage was the entry into the world market of maritime goods, which is estimated at a trillion dollars a year.

Since October 2016, the company has taken part in the delivery of approximately 150 cargo containers from China to the USA. Earlier, Amazon was registered with the US Maritime Federal Commission, the US Maritime Carrier Regulatory Authority. In January 2017, the company sent a message on the provision of sorting, labeling and shipping services from ports to warehouses – this is usually the responsibility of transport companies such as FedEx and UPS.

Amazon has consolidated a wide range of services. These transport solutions are of great strategic value and the company has considerably simplified the lives of small Chinese suppliers in the United States. Amazon has already purchased several cargo semitrailers and is about to lease 40 freight planes. In mid-December, Amazon first made the commercial delivery of goods using a quadrocopter and promised to launch the service in 2018.

Also in the summer of 2018, the company plans to launch an application to link freight carriers to their suppliers of goods. Truck drivers will be able to communicate directly with dispatchers and will also have access to personalized offers and tailored routes.
